It Was All a Dream?

Updated: Aug 2, 2022

We either take dreams too seriously or not serious enough. Are dreams even real? Is there any real meaning behind a dream? I’m one of those “everything happens for a reason” types of people. So I normally take that approach with my dreams. And this is not always the best idea. Because that logic goes right out the window when I have a dream about death or an ex.

Last week and this week, I’ve been sick with a fever on and off. It’s not Corona I promise. But whenever I’m not feeling good, I have the most insane dreams. Dreams that feel like some random ass action movie with hella plot twists that only end up pissing you off in the end because it leaves you with too many unanswered questions. Well, that’s exactly how my dreams have been going. To paint the picture even further, Jason Statham would be the main character. The wildness of the dreams is one thing, but one of my exes has made 3 reoccurrences in 3 different dreams. That’s clearly a sign that I should hydrate more and pray before bed. Jokes aside, I believe there is some indirect truth to certain aspects of dreams. Freud made some very valid points. Some of our innermost desires are revealed in our dreams. But that’s the thing about ciphering dreams. It’s never literally what the dream is. You can have a dream that you were at a party and got reconnected with an old flame. That does not mean go call that person when you wake up. I believe dreams are not as literal as we think. Research even points to this. It could possibly mean something from your past makes you comfortable and you’re probably missing that thing or person or having trouble adjusting without it. I didn’t go to school for dream psychology. So I try not to spend too much time figuring out what my dreams mean because there’s literally no telling what the hell they could mean. But for this past week my very first boyfriend showed up in 3 dreams and we haven’t spoken in almost 2 years (lol I know that’s not that long). Maybe there was something that I recently experience that brought up those memories. Who knows! I do know that acting on every little dream can lead to trouble and confusion. Just let dreams be what they are… a beautiful combination of memories, fantasy, and those pesky subconscious thoughts. But hey what do I know!?
